Reading: Lister p. 38 summary

Coming back to the original point - at what stage does media become new media and when is it merely a hybrid of old media?

In the Lister reading, its suggested that 'new' carries connotations of 'better' 'improved', and 'most recent'.
This can help to understand 'new media' not as an entirely new form, but as something either improved or technologically advanced and packaged as a 'new' product.

I agree. I believe Lister is suggesting that if new media could not have existed without old media, that surely new media is the new 'upgraded' version of what we already know.
